FAQs

Do I need a bookkeeper? A few questions you may be asking yourself.

Is there a difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?
Do I need a bookkeeper? Do I need both a bookkeeper and accountant?

Ideally, your business would use both a bookkeeper and an accountant, as they have different areas of expertise.

A bookkeeper’s first task is to record transactions and keep you financially organised. Accountants provide analysis, consultation, and are more qualified to offer advice on tax matters.

A bookkeepers role is keeping a record of the paperwork for businesses’ financial transactions accurately and efficiently. The will also be knowledgeable and able to provide advice regarding debits and credits, the chart of accounts, accounts payable procedures, sales and accounts receivable, payroll, and more.

Companies House requires that annual accounts are submitted by a qualified accountant. Bookkeepers are unable to give you advice about financial investments or tax issues as they are not qualified in these areas.

Having both onboard provides peace of mind – especially useful for busy business owners who are responsible for all the different activities required to run a business, not just bookkeeping and accounting but sales, marketing, administration and carrying out the work itself!

Depending on your requirements, we can undertake as much or as little as you require, from acting as support to being responsible for your business’s accounts so that you are free to use your resources elsewhere in your business.

Why should I outsource my bookkeeping? Can’t I do it myself?

You can maintain your own records although at times accounts can be time consuming and complex if you encounter a tax or VAT issue or are unsure of the rules, we are here to help and advise on the best practice.

If you are busy managing and growing your business it is likely that you lack the time and resources to dedicate to proper accounting. It can quickly become a burden too if you don’t enjoy it either it. With a multitude of responsibilities to run a business day-to-day it’s all too easy to get behind on keeping the accounts up-to-date or miss an important payment deadline.

Outsourcing to experienced bookkeepers gives you peace of mind ensuring everything is running smoothly with the accounting side of your business and frees up your time to allow you to focus on growing and running your business.

I already have an accountant, will you work with them?

Yes, we are more than happy to liaise with your current accountants and if you don’t have one we can recommend one to you.

Will you come to my offices and collect paperwork?

We may need to initially to discuss your requirements and guide you to move things online if you are not already. The beauty of using online cloud based accounting solutions is that it negates the need for us to come to your offices, we can collaborate with you via the accounting software and access everything we need to process your accounts but we are always happy to come to your office and discuss things and help when we can if you need us to.
